BBC iPlayer Discriminating Against The Deaf?
BBC doesn’t usually discriminate. However with the iPlayer, they’ve done a wonderful thing - bought “catch-up” TV to the general public in UK that works very well, and is nearly 100% subtitled. It’s a fantastic service. Fast forward to today, with the explosion of smartphones in UK with the iPhone and Android models grabbing a large and growing share of the mobile...

Why Am I Deleting My Facebook Account?
Dear all, I’m just writing to announce that I am planning to close down my Facebook account. I also believe you should be doing the same, or at least consider it. I shall list some reasons for doing so. The major factor is really just how dangerously scary Facebook really think of your “privacy”. Many times we’ve read the news about Facebook making changes to your privacy settings - perhaps adding...

Proud to be British...?
Hello. First of all I’ll like to apologise for being deaf. You see I live in this wonderful country, with thousands of years of history. This same country where it is supposed to have a reputation for a sense of fairness and equality for all. The same country where people are treated decently and fairly and helped where possible. But of course all of that goes out of the window if you...

UK emergencySMS
This was in a mailing list but it was worthwhile copying into here: Just to clarify how the UK emergencySMS service works. You do need to register your mobile phone number by sending the word ‘register’ in an SMS text message to 999 and then reply to the message you get back. This generally takes less than a minute so you could do it in an emergency but it is better done before. Then...

Daddy's Fashion Sense
This morning, in a bit of a rush, I was to take my boy to rugby training this morning…however I was also bringing my girl too. Normally this isn’t a problem…except for the fact that she is now 7 and I can no longer get away with my usual method of slapping whatever fits on her and head out. That works when she’s a baby…then I could get away with being a...

Frodo the dog is munching on grass. A lot. Our little girl: Mum, we have a half dog, half cow! Mummy: no, we have a half dog and half goat. He eat anything. Perfectly normal around here of course.

General Election 2010 - The Aftermath
The Government today announced that it is changing its emblem from a Union Jack to a CONDOM because it more accurately reflects the government’s political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you’re actually being screwed. quite accurate I’ll say

Restart Part VII
Or some other number. Whatever, lost count - I find that I generally couldn’t be arsed to use Wordpress. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fantastic blogging/CMS system, but when all one want is just simple stuff, Wordpress is just too…much. Plus there’s Twitter. I use that a lot. Sometime I want say more than just 140 characters but I also want interaction too - ie people...
